Is your neighbor the woman with the walker? The man at the bus stop? The mom with two kids in tow? The St. Luke and St. James Community Meal Programs have fed the hungry and homeless of our community for over 15 years. Despite economic unrest and a pandemic no one anticipated, generous supporters and dedicated volunteers continue to step up to make sure that the most vulnerable received meals twice a month. But We Need YOUR Help!
Prior to the COVID-19 outbreak, there were 327,000 Northeast Ohioans experiencing food insecurity, not always knowing where they would receive their next meal.
Of those:
28% were children under 18 years old
16% were elderly
64% had to choose between paying for food or utilities
78% of households purchase inexpensive, unhealthy food
Our Goal:
Continue to feed 200 people each month between both locations for the next 3 years for a total of 7,500 meals. Each guest receives a nutritious meal including soup or salad, entree, vegetables, starch and dessert. Plus they are given an additional meal to take home. Seasonal fruit is provided and during the coldest months, socks, hats and gloves.
For many of our guests, they often remark, “at least I didn’t eat alone tonight." The Community Meal programs nourish both body and soul.
Your support will make it possible for us to continue this important community ministry! If you would like to contribute and help feed our Northeast Ohio community members, please visit this GoFundMe.
